It’s already September?!?!

Summer… wow, that was way too fast!  At the same time, we’re excited to get back into the routines of fall.  One such routine is our regular ministry schedule.  Our building – the Athens Refugee Center, or ARC – is back in operation after nearly two months of construction.  In its first two weeks, the ARC has already proved (or proved again) to be a great place to show and share God’s love – a love made clear in Jesus.  Read more in our latest ministry update – click HERE to download (.pdf).  Or find our text-only version (boring!) below:

Loving the Overlooked – September 2010

Hospitality and the Gospel

Hospitality calls us to make space in our homes and our hearts for others; and our model here is God Himself. In a unique way, hospitality reflects the heart of the gospel. Welcoming a guest – even more a stranger – into our home and lavishing upon them the love and care usually reserved for family is a
good picture of God’s love for us – the far-off being adopted as God’s beloved through the work of Christ.

Hospitality – both God’s and ours – has been on my heart this summer. With our building closed for some much needed remodeling, we’ve lacked a place to welcome and offer hospitality to large groups of refugees, a place where nameless faces become friends.

As of August 21st, however, we’ve re-opened our ministry center! Rejoice with us (thankful to offer
this gospel-hospitality) and with our refugee friends (thankful for a safe-place filled with love)! Praise God for His grace and provision!

Thanks for your support, prayers, and encouragement!

By God’s grace: Brett, Kristin, Sofia, & Emma
