About Us
We first met in 2003, our senior year at North Park University in Chicago, while preparing for a short-term mission in Timisoara, Romania. We married two years later, and began dreaming together about opportunities in full-time ministry. Before coming to Greece, Kristin had been an elementary school teacher in Chicago and Emden, Illinois. As Kristin taught, Brett worked at Breakthrough Urban Ministries in Chicago and completed his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree at Lincoln Christian Seminary. Sofia (January 2008) and Emma (December 2009) have since joined our family, filling our lives with joy – and diapers! We couldn’t be more thankful for God’s grace in our lives.
Although we were first introduced to International Teams in 2003 (preparing for our trip to Romania), we began discussing long-term opportunities soon after our marriage in 2005. We approached International Teams with a description of our passions and gifts, and simply asked where they could envision us joining in God’s global work. Since that time, God has continued to develop our heart for the refugee community in Athens, Greece. We joined Athens’ refugee ministry team in July of 2007.
