The week between Christmas and New Year was busy with parties and joyous gatherings. Here are a few pics to that end.

Jesus as Refugee: The Hope of Christmas
Today – 2000 years after the birth of Jesus – Christmas celebrations are extravagant events, full of food and drink, gifts and decorations, laughter and merriment. We travel great distances to gather with family and friends. We reflect on God’s grace in our lives, and His grace revealed in the tender flesh of a baby, [...]

We had a great trip last weekend to the Argolic peninsula (on the eastern side of the Peloponnese). We spent the first night in Nafplio (our favorite get-away spot), before touring the ancient theater of Epidavros, and spending our second night in the small resort town of Portoheli. We ended up coming home a day [...]

Easter 2009
We celebrated Easter here yesterday. In fact, Monday is also a holiday here in Greece (“Easter Monday”). We began Sunday morning with Sofia’s first Easter Egg hunt and later enjoyed a time of worship at church. We spent the afternoon eating and sharing in fellowship with teammates and some Afghan and Iranian friends. Here are [...]

What’s your dream?
Today we remember the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. I am always inspired by Dr. King’s speeches. I’ve posted the end of his famous “I Have A Dream” speech below. Read the entire speech HERE (the audio version is also available via the link).
Reading this speech (his passion for [...]

Love Is Like That
Merry Christmas!! Here is a very brief snippet of the message I shared at our Arabic-language Christmas Outreach. The refrain (“love is like that”) is taken from a wonderful old sermon by Enos Dowling, one of the founding fathers of LCCS, where I went to seminary.
This is the story of what love looks [...]

Friday Photos: Christmas Outreach
Well, it has been quite a good week here. I always love the Christmas Outreach parties that we host each year. 2 down, 1 to go! Sadly, I forgot my camera for Thursday night’s Farsi-speaking party… so the photos below (except the first) are all from Tuesday night’s Arabic-speaking party. I [...]
