Happy Friday! Here’s a sampling of photos from life here in Athens this week. Thanks for your prayers and support. Enjoy! Emma gets her first taste of rice cereal (and she does really well with it) Sofia is ready for a dance party! A wonderful splash of color – and nature – in the city.… [Read more…]
Call me naive, even arrogant… but I want to do great things. I want to change the world; not for my own praise or to make a name for myself, but to make much of Jesus to the glory of God. I want to preach the gospel until I’m 90. I want to train preachers… [Read more…]
We’ve been back in Athens for a week now. Here are a few highlights: *Reconnecting with refugee friends. It’s been great to catch up with the people we do life with here: the guys I’ve been discipling; the families we hang out with; the refugees we love on (and who love on us!). *Reconnecting with… [Read more…]
As of today we’ve been back in the US for 1 week! It’s been a week full of sleepless nights and cold weather, but we’re beginning to reorient ourselves (and the girls) to life in Illinois. We’ve spent this first week back in the Chicago area, but plan on traveling to Springfield later this afternoon… [Read more…]
I’ve learned most of my important life lessons from cartoons. Case in point: I don’t need to know where I’m goin’, I just need to know where I’ve been. – Mater (from the movie “Cars”) Okay, well… I don’t know if that is always true, but it is a fitting quote for today’s post: the… [Read more…]
As you may remember, we moved into a new flat on the 1st of July. We promised pictures. Please consider this post to be the fulfillment of said promise. Enjoy the tour! The living room (foreground), dinning room (background), and office (to the right you will see just a glimpse of the desk and computer).… [Read more…]

We’re excited to have regular internet access again… and catch up on emails! Until then, here’s some news from Patras (via the United… [Read more…]
We’re moved into our new apartment. We love it! However, we don’t have internet access quite yet… nor will we for at least two weeks. We’ll continue to post on the blog as much as possible, but probably just once a week. Keep us in your prayers! We’ll be in touch soon.
Movin’ on up… to the east side. Well, it may not be an apartment in the sky, but we’re moving! Monday I paid the deposit on our new apartment: a three-bedroom flat in the Ellinoroson neighborhood of Athens (about a ten minute walk north of our current locale). It’s near the Metro (Katehaki station), supermarkets,… [Read more…]
Driving in Athens is no fun. We don’t have a car, but we did for six months last year (good-bye dear Opel). Traffic is bad. There are few arteries into downtown. The infrastructure is old. Urban sprawl goes unchecked, meaning more people are driving in from suburban locations. There are many one-way streets. Not a… [Read more…]
